After receiving his degrees in intellectual history from Stanford University and UC Berkeley, and in Mathematics from CSUEB, Dale founded the Women In Science Archive in December of 2013. He is the author of A History of Women in Medicine and Medical Research, A History of Women in Astronomy and Space Exploration, A History of Women in Mathematics and A History of Women in Psychology and Neuroscience, from Pen & Sword Books.

Dale is also the author of the Cartoon History of Humanism (Humanist Press), and was for years a regular writer for Philosophy Now, The New Humanist, Free Inquiry, American Atheist Magazine, and Skeptical Enquirer and is currently working on a history of women in physics and chemistry, as well as a global history of women in music.
